Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is the Japanese word for “Universal Life Energy”. Originally a very ancient healing art.

It was rediscovered about a hundred years ago by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan.

 

In the West this name is given to a form of healing that utilizes this energy to enhance well-being, wholeness and harmony.

 

The Reiki symbol (right) has a number of meanings:
- “universal life energy”
- ”soul energy”
- “mysterious spirit”

How Does It Work?

Reiki practitioners channel divine healing power through their hands which helps the body to heal itself. No extra tools or products are required and it can be used as a part of every other method of healing.

 

It re-balances the human energy levels, strengthens the immune system and calms the mind. Reiki is gentle and non-invasive and it never causes any harm.

What happens during treatment?

Healing is carried out lying or sitting down fully clothed whilst I place my hands on or close to your head and body. It is deeply relaxing and all you have to do is be aware of your breathing. You may experience various sensations of heat, vibrations and a deep sense relaxation can be felt throughout the body.

 

On a physical level:-

Reiki can bring relaxation to stressed and tired muscles, lightness with the possible sensation of walking on air, decrease of pain and the acceleration of healing.

 

On an emotional level:-

Reiki works on the conscious and unconscious mind. Anxiety is reduced with well being in increased or restored. As the Reiki begins to work it promotes a positive and mental attitude increasing clarity, focus and motivation.. At this deep level of emotional and physical relaxation rebalancing of energy’s occurs and the natural healing of the body is enhanced.

 

Reiki supports other treatments both conventional and complementary. It can often assist in reducing negative side-effects of medical treatment and medication. For example, it may:

 

- be useful when preparing for exams
~ boost the immune system
~ release toxins
~ encourage good circulation
~ improve digestion
~ calm the mind and emotions 
~ help to bring a person's whole being back into harmony and balance
