About me and My Counselling Service

Clare-Marie Keel Dip Therapeutic Counselling MBACP

Hello and welcome my name is Clare-Marie, I want to start by saying it is perfectly normal to feel anxious about making the first step in taking counselling.

To open up about your difficulties takes a lot of courage so please be rest assured I will do all I can  to make you feel at ease by offering you a safe place to talk over your concerns.

In the counselling session I will work warmly and sensitively at your pace to assist you in moving forward with your life.

My approach is warm, empathic and about building a trusting relationship, so whether you come individually for counselling or as a couple you will be made welcome.

I am also currently training to be a ‘Life Coach’ as I feel issues such as Low self-esteem, Low Self-Worth, Lack of Valuing Oneself, Stress, Feeling Lost or Stuck in Life, etc. are all becoming more wide spread due to the pressures and life styles we now have. I aim on using these skills in assisting my clients to move forward with their life in a more positive and healthier way.

I am an Accredited Registrant of The National Counselling Society as well as being on The BACP Register of qualifed counsellors.

ABOUT ME

Before I became a counsellor I spent many years working in the care sector, this included working within palliative care, secure mental health units, elderly care and education etc. Through gaining this experience it became apparent how those who were struggling with everyday life really needed someone to listen to them in a safe non-judgmental empathetic environment.

To explore this more I went on to become involved in various charities, from supporting clients that were in deep distress and suicidal to working with families under extreme pressures. My experience has allowed me to work with clients with relationship/family issues, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, addiction, bereavement issues, anger management etc. I got so much satisfaction from this that I decided on pursuing a career in counselling as it was something I felt extremely passionate about and so I began my training.

After qualifying as a counsellor I went on to carry out extensive training in areas that dealt with loss and grief and I worked for a large charity as a bereavement counsellor gaining valuable experience.

I went on to take an 'Advanced Certficate In Life Coaching' so that I could assist my clients more with having a more postive life style.

I have an up to date disclosure and barring services Certificate which allows me to work with vulnerable adults.

I am a fully qualified registered counsellor with ‘The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy who are a professional association for counselling professions within the UK. I adhere and abide to the Ethical framework and I hold a full indemnity professional insurance policy.

WHY COUNSELLING

Life can sometimes be quite challenging and throw up all sorts of dilemmas; counselling can be very helpful during these difficult times. I feel many of us need assistance or support at some point in our lives and sometimes speaking to friends or family may not be enough as they may be too personally involved with us. It is during these times I am able to support you through counselling.

Painful experiences from the past, difficulties in the present and fears about the future may hinder our ability to find and achieve satisfaction. Counselling can help people with feelings of loneliness, confidence issues, anger management, relationship problems, addiction, loss and bereavement and many other dilemmas that we face in life.
